FanCineGay, the International LGBT Film Festival of Extremadura, celebrates this year its 23rd Edition between the 7th and the 15th of November opening its traditional Short Films Call with the purpose of recognising, visibilising and fostering the production and dissemination of recent or unreleased LGBTI works.
THEME AND DURATION.The short films must approach a lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersexual or queer theme being accepted all the genres (fiction, documentary, experimental, video art...) under the duration of thirty (30) minutes. All the works from any country produced and released along 2018, 2019 and 2020 will be accepted.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS. The deadline for submissions is on August the 24th 2020 at 23:59 (UTC +2: CEST, Madrid) with no possibility of postponement.
MATERIALS DELIVERY.The short films must be sent preferably via online after filling in the Official Form by providing an screener (hosted on Vimeo, Youtube or similar) as well as its password, and sending the materials required to email@example.com or attaching them to the form: poster of the film, Spanish subtitles, pictures of the film, picture and biography of the director and list of dialogues (not mandatory). It will be necessary to fill a different form per each submission.
It will also be possible to submit works via Click For Festivals and FestHome by accessing through the links provided on the left. The registration via any of these three methods excludes the submission of works via the rest except in the case of explicit request by the organisation.

The Festival will not send back the discs received for screening unless a means of prepaid postage is included.
FORMATS. The accepted formats for screening are AVI, MP4 H.264, MOV PRORES 422, Blu-Ray and DCP with a minimum resolution of 1920 per 1080 pixels (Full HD).
PRE-SELECTION. The festival reserves the right to reject any work that does not meet the minimum technical quality standards or that does not approach the themes of the call in a sufficiently clear manner within any of its plots or subplots as well as those submitted in former calls.
The registration will be confirmed via email after verifying the correct filling of the forms and that the extra materials have been sent.
SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION. A jury formed by specialists in Audiovisual Communications, Culture Management and LGBTI Activism will select among all the works pre-selected a sample that will be included in the schedule of the festival as well as the Best Short Film of the 23rd FanCineGay.
The authors of the works selected will be notified before October the 5th, 2020 via email in the address provided in the submission form. FanCineGay will not notify the works that have not been selected,making public the list of those that have been at a later time. The authors of the selected works will only be allowed to communicate their selection publicly or make any kind of dissemination about their participation in FanCineGay once the festival had previously announced it via its official channels.
BEST SHORT FILM.There will be just one prize awarded with 350€ for the winning short film (the prize in cash will be awarded as an advance in the payment for future screenings to be agreed with the distributor in Spain) that will be cashed after the finalisation of the festival.
PROMOTION. Extracts of the titles selected might be used with promotional purposes for their broadcasting via TV or dissemination via other media, as well as the rest of the materials provided. The organisation of the festival must be informed in writing of any restriction that the selected works could have in this respect.
RESPONSIBILITIES. The festival does not assume any responsibility in case of deterioration or loss of the materials during their transportation and exhibition. Neither it will be responsible for the possible infractions related to copyrights, taking responsibility for it the person who submits the work.
The submission of works implies the full acceptance of the terms of the call as well as the decisions of the organisation before unexpected events typical of this activity.
